Molex STEM Charity Robotics Team Building in Chicago
Molex makes things that go in every digital device you can probably imagine. They are the unseen, but much known in the industry, manufacturer of the parts that make-up the devices we love to use. It is no surprise they took to building a functioning Robot from parts, screws, and electronics, but they also took it to the next level by inviting local students to join them. Molex chose our STEM Charity Robotics Team Building event to inspire young students from the local Chicago community to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.
In over 20 years of team building, I can’t recall a program that was so well received from students. We worked with three schools and a local Boys and Girls Club to find select STEM students who demonstrated a love of science, math, and technology. We had to turn away students who wanted to attend the event with Molex employees because we had too many. They were so excited to build and play with the Robots, and equally as excited to meet professional people working in STEM related fields. The TeamWorx STEM Charity Robotics Team Building is a perfect fit for companies looking to interact with STEM students in positive and motivational ways.
Each team of 5 Molex employees and 1 student worked together for 2 hours building the Robot successfully. It was great to see the students seamlessly blend into the team of adult professionals and be a functioning and indispensable part of the team. The passion for science and technology was obvious, and the robots are fun to work with and put together. The last hour teams competed in an obstacle course competition where they tried to get the fastest times on a series of fun team robot challenges.
At the end of the event Molex made an amazing donation to each organization of a complete Robotics Class Set for teaching up to 30 students at a time. We were so impressed with how friendly and gracious the people from Molex were. They instantly helped each student to become an active team member, they stayed with the robot building project until they had success, and then they had a great time trying to outdo each other on the obstacles. Thank you Molex for making the STEM Charity Robotics Team Building in Chicago a huge success!
