Facebook Team Building Sets Internal Robot Build Record
A recent Facebook team building yielded a new internal robot build record of 32 minutes and 42 seconds (32:42), breaking the previous record by 6 minutes! From dozens of competitors over a 1 1/2 year period this one team from the analytics department shined above the others. Using intense team communication, great leadership, and team members that were very keen to find ways to help their team in advance, the analytics team broke down the data and got to the truth quickly.
It is always a pleasure to watch a record broken because the team has to do something different, something exceptional to be better than the hundreds that went before them. In this instance I noticed the team made excellent use of all of their resources keeping eyes outward using the built robot for maximum efficiency and keeping an eye on the other teams to see what they were doing well, and what to avoid.
Analytics is very popular with many of the world’s greatest companies we work with. The ability to match businesses with their target audiences, the people that buy most from them, and the ability to tailor advertising to specific audiences, and even specific people, has proven to be very effective in raising sales. The advent and constant improvement of machine learning and artificial intelligence allows for complex and gigantic amounts of data to be effectively utilized to provide customized shopping experiences. The better the customization fits the clients, the better the success rate in terms of sales. We all like what we like, and not only buy more when we see it, but also buy more from companies that are able to consistently give us exactly (or close to) what we want.
Judging from this robot event it looks like Facebook has the right people on the task!
