BattleBots Team Building with Facebook
The TeamWorx Robot Battles is a BattleBot Team Building event that we shared with Facebook and yielded a ‘Like” from the audience! One team – pictured here – posted a fast build time of 37:30. With only 5 people per team this is most certainly an impressive feat. On the fun meter this entire group maxed out the needle to 11! After a close build competition, they proceeded to crash and bash into each other with our newly upgraded motors. We weren’t sure how twice the horsepower would affect the bots, which is pending survival statistics from the warehouse / workshop. We did lose a few attack arms to smashed servos so an upgrade here is in order soon.
One thing is certain, the program was ridiculously fun before the upgrade, and now it is even more so. I think the Facebook team may of had sore smiling muscles the next day. The cheers from flipping a bot or winning a match echoed through the linoleum floors and solid ceilings – amplifying its effect and significance to the local little league playing outside. A nice breeze cooled things off between matches as teams adapted to busted or missing parts from the tournament.
An all-bot melee ensued with several bots taking on a jousting like attack arm style of combat. Longer then the moving arm, but unable to move itself, the joust style relies on the bot Ram-ing another bots balloons while they are fighting a different bot, or get lucky and Ram them sideways and get lift at the same time to flip them. Truly a great adaptation to one of the consequences of doubling the horsepower – it can cause double the damage! Double the fun is worth double the damage everyday of the week – however we are currently adapting like Facebook and upgrading the servos to match!
The real BattleBots is my favorite TV show and was the favorite show of some of the participants as well. They suggested we add a flame thrower or cutting saw to “amp it up”. Short of those great suggestions, a BattleBots Team Building can simulate the feeling of being a “BattleBots” driver, and, more importantly perhaps, it is a perfect way to have a great team experience with your work team! We hope to see you out competing for the world record build time and trying to out-battle your peers.
A huge thank you to Facebook for having us out to be a part of your offsite. We look forward to seeing you back for other events!
