Santa Clara Team Building – Dell EMC’s 1st Group Builds and Battles Robots!
Santa Clara Team Building could involve dozens of companies with household names. Just driving down Great American Parkway you can feel like a cat in someone’s software and computer closet – with boxes rising endlessly littered with names of companies we all use daily. My stop was with a pinnacle of household “nameness” Dell EMC – established in September 2016 with the merger of Dell + EMC. Now a powerhouse cloud storage solution, these two Goliaths were previously located just 1 block away! Thus it goes on Great American Parkway!
This was Dell EMC’s first attempt at setting a world record build time, and their exposure to how much fun robot battles are. This was a unique program for sure, in that we had only 1 team. Just like practice can never adequately reproduce “game-time,” so competing against no one else does not create the urgency needed to break a record.
There is something about looking over and seeing your workmates building the robot faster than your team that really accelerates the the pace and urgency of robot building. Human nature being what it is, this team naturally focused more on building interpersonal relationships through the robot building process.
It was a wonderful reminder that the robot team building event is a team building event first and foremast, and it uses robots to accomplish something we all want from our team building experiences: to get to know our workmates better!
For a Santa Clara Team Building event, the robot team building is perfectly suited to drop down in your meeting room, build relationships while having fun, and then battle each other for even more fun!
