Uber Sunnyvale Team Building
An Uber Sunnyvale Team Building event building and battling robots was a huge success! Like many other inspiring and engaging Uber groups before them, this team challenged themselves to build a battle robot faster than anyone in the world. Most importantly, they had a great time!
“The team had a blast! I felt like my manager was impressed. He took a video and shared it with his boss as well. Huge hit!”
Three teams competed to build the robot faster than each other and for a World Record. Uber hosted us at their beautiful new corporate offices in Sunnyvale California. The teams were great at attention to detail, and build quality – a safety first mentality. As a result, the robots they built lasted through many rounds of robot combat.
One advantage to a smaller group is that, if you build your robots well, you have an opportunity for more battles. The onsite robot expert can provide more assistance, guidance, and expertise, per robot, and we end up waiting less for each robot to be ready.
In this case we had the usual tournament consisting of multiple 2-minute battles, except everyone battled twice! Then we had a compete group “last bot standing” competition with 5 total rounds including a championship.
The room we were in was spectacular. A brand new, modern designed, spacious, snack room/lunch room style environment with large windows and copious amounts of natural light. The winning team – pictured above – took a fabulous picture highlighting the natural lighting, and their great smiles!
This group was part of a long line of Uber groups who have challenged themselves to beat the World Record robot build time. In fact, one Uber team this last March finished 47th all-time with a build time of 32:37 (thirty two minutes and thirty two seconds)!
A huge thank you to Uber in Sunnyvale for inviting us to your new campus, and letting us work with an inspiring and engaging group of technical folks.
