Atlassian Build & Battle Robots
An Atlassian Build & Battle Robots event was a huge success with three teams competing to build the robot faster than each other, and for the World Record, and then battling in robot combat. Team names included Robo Data (Mad Max 2 Fury Robot), Pho Hunters, and Darkside.
Atlassian helps companies stay on track as they plan, develop, and deliver products. Confluence, Trillo, Jira and others are products that help us communicate and collaborate better across the globe.
It is no surprise that the three teams were all very capable at planning the build, developing their strategy, and delivering a well-made robot!
Team Robo Data (Mad Max 2 Fury Robot) (pictured above) won the build competition with a stunning time of 40:33 sending shivers across the deserted 9th floor of 350 Bush Street that reverberated all the way into the battles component of the competition.
What do I mean? They won 3 of the 5 Battle Rounds; winning the 1st, 2nd and 5th rounds! They were also the favorite to win the last bot standing competition.
The last bot standing battle started as a defensive battle with four robots thinking survival over all out crazy warfare. It was paired down to two bots when my extra bot lost a wheel and went down to opportunistic scavengers and Darkside went home, leaving Robo Data (Mad Max 2 Fury Robot) and Pho Hunters.
In a shocking upset, Pho Hunters flipped Robo Data (Mad Max 2 Fury Robot) for a crowd pleasing, fist pumping, surprise knock out punch that ended the event, and began the celebrations!
Congratulations to all three teams for excellent built battle robots, at least one win for each team, and a thrilling finish that kept me awake all the way back to the office!
A huge thank you to Atlassian for inviting me to their office for a productive and entertaining robot build and battle team event!
