BattleBots Battle LinkedIn Teambuilding
A “BattleBots Battle LinkedIn Teambuilding” event at the Mountain View LinkedIn campus included building robots and battling alongside professional robot drivers from the BattleBots TV show.
Team Malice and Skorpios built robots as one team and competed against LinkedIn employees to build the robot faster. They completed the Robot Battles 1 robot in 25:10 (twenty five minutes and 10 seconds) placing them 6th All-Time!
The LinkedIn team (pictured above) also finished with an incredible time of 37:51 seconds, over seven minutes (about 15%) faster then the 45-minute average-build-time over hundreds of events.
Team Malice and Skorpios also set-up displays and brought their giant 250lb combat robots for display. In addition, they brought smaller Lego versions of Skorpios and Duck and we battled against the Robot-Battles-1 bot – super fun and exciting!
Team Skorpios included Zach Lytle and William from Canada and Malice included Adrian “Bunny” Liaw, and husband David Liaw. David is no stranger to our events as he has competed in our Robot Battles 2 team building, with his employer Marvel, several times, and currently holds the World Record build time for Robot-Battles-2 robots!
The LinkedIn teams engaged in multiple rounds of melee style combat against each other and against the professional drivers. We had many winning teams in the melee rounds, and then prepared for a last-bot standing finale. The finale included Zach from Skorpios driving the robot he and malice had finished in record time.
The last-bot-standing finale was spectacular with many great battles from all of the teams. In the end, Zach survived to have a showdown with another LinkedIn team, the same team that won the build competition!
The entre arena was expecting an easy final victory for the professional driver, but NO!
A hero was born at LinkedIn that day, as our battle champion – pictured above – spun around 180 and popped the last of Zach’s balloons, all with only 3 wheels! A true champion and enduring company memory!
A huge thank you to LinkedIn for inviting us out to inspire and engage your amazing employees!
