Battlebot Team Building with Genentech in Napa CA
Genentech is one of the largest research-driven corporations in the world and strive to follow the science to make innovations. It employs more than 1,100 researchers, scientists and postdocs and covers a wide range of scientific activity—from molecular biology to protein chemistry to bioinformatics and physiology. It is no surprise they chose our Head-to Head Battlebot Team Building program to highlight their recent meeting in Napa CA.
Genentech liked both formats we offer for Robot Team Building: they wanted to compete for the world record build time and they wanted to compete head-to-head in a Battlebot Team Building tournament similar to the TV show on ABC. We customized our event to provide 2 events in 1 program. They began by conquering the robot build in typical Genentech fashion, they did their research and then innovated! Two teams missed the world record by less then 1 minute in a close race to finish the complex process of building a functioning robot. Once completed, they competed in a series of 3 robot competitions to determine the seeding for the Battlebot tournament.
The finale was a series of head-to-head Battlebot Team Building battles to determine the overall winning team. Robots smash into each other and use a chopper arm in an attempt to disable the other robot or pop their balloon. The program was fast and furious and was completed in exactly 1.5 hours. Congratulations to Genentech for performing under pressure in a tight timeline to produce high quality robots and have fun! The meeting planner shared with us that many of the people said that was the first team building event they truly enjoyed and others said it was the best event they had experienced at Genentech or in some cases with Roche.
We offer many customized options for robot team building including a Speed and Skill competition, a Battlebot Team Building format, and a Battlebot build and battle format. The Speed and Skill build competition is over two years old and has been delivered to global companies throughout the United States. The scale of companies who have participated makes for a fun World Record competition to build the robot successfully faster than the other companies.
