Corporate Team Building Cupertino with Bluechiptek!
A Corporate Team Building Cupertino event featuring Bluechiptek included representation from all departments including senior leadership. Sales, engineers, HR, senior leaders, admins, and others all combined forces to conquer the robots first, and then each other in robot combat.
“The event was fantastic. Our team is still talking about it today. Wayne did a fantastic job getting our team involved and comfortable with building and battling robots. 80% of our attendees were non-technical so this was truly getting our people out of their comfort zone. Special thanks to Wayne he really got us pumped up and believing we could build and battle. It was a real pleasure working with him.”
Bluechiptek is an IT consulting firm with expertise in many areas, especially cloud management and storage optimization. Based in Santa Clara, they had a jump start on implementing large scale cloud hardware management, and have leveraged that head start to stay ahead of the game.
The event was hosted at the Residence Inn in Cupertino, which is embedded in an upscale retail oasis that includes numerous opportunities for baked goods, coffee, fresh seafood, fine dining, relaxed dining, Target, and even some creative shopping experiences.
Teams SassAFrass, WALL-E, KC, and Sister Wives, all competed to build the robot faster than the other teams. WALL-E won the build competition with a great time of 41:32 followed closely by two other sub-45 minute times.
The battles were entertaining with 5 melee rounds of uninhibited combat with minimal scoring but many thrills. We switched to Last Bot Standing format for the final two battles. The first round ended with two bots – perhaps the two best drivers – going head to head for over 5 minutes before one finally popped the final balloon.
The final battle of the evening was the crescendo of all battles. Rachelle dived back in the arena for her third battle round and made it to the final two bots against Carlos. Both battlers demonstrated adept robot maneuvering and had chances to win. However this final battle belonged to Rachelle with a stunning robot flip to end the match and raise the arms of all surrounding the arena!
The victory is immortalized in the picture below! Congratulations to all of the builders and battlers for a successful end to a long day of meetings!
