ApartmentList Rocks Robots Downtown San Francisco Team Event
A Downtown San Francisco Team Event with Apartment List featured amazing robot battles and teamwork! Apartment List does an amazing job of finding people the home of their dreams in the form of an apartment. A team of the people programmers behind the scenes of the website – keeping it running, and constantly improving the accuracy and ease of use – competed to “out robot-build” each other.
Four teams including “Atlas Dingleberry,” “ListyBot,” “Coconut,” and “Awesome-O” built bots below the 45 minute average build time, proving their code has cred! Coconut (pictured here) was the winning build bot time team at 37:40 (thirty-seven minutes and forty seconds). They beat team ListyBot by less than 5 seconds in a near photo finish!
The battles were amazingly thrilling with Atlas Dingleberry jumping out with the fastest recorded robot battle victory – in less than 4 seconds, followed by a 20 second victory in the 2nd battle. Then Coral Colored balloon team Awesome-O flipped the script and responded with two consecutive victories in less than 20 seconds: a robot flip in 8 seconds and two balloon pops in 7 and 11 seconds.
Doing some quick math you have 4 robot victories in 42 seconds total – a record for 4 consecutive battles that will likely stand for years!
We met Apartment List at our new favorite San Francisco venue for a Downtown San Francisco Team Event – Club Quarters Hotel at 424 Clay Street. It is our new home-field for robot events in Downtown San Francisco. They have catering available, hourly rates, and clean, private meeting rooms to accommodate most groups.
Its location in the heart of the financial district close to the Transamerica Pyramid and the beginning of Embarcadero Center, makes it convenient to walk, Uber, or take public transit for many businesses and visitors. Parking in the Embarcadero Center is affordable and available, and just around the corner from the venue.
