Google Team Building Union Square San Francisco
Google Team Building Union Square San Francisco was an amazing robot building and battling experience. The Marker San Francisco served as the venue. With over 12,000 square feet of newly renovated meeting space steps from Union Square, it is an ideal San Francisco meeting location. Robot Team Building fit perfectly as a unique and elegant representation of its natural form; in this case a team building event. Both the hotel and the team building are “irreplaceable” even by Coco Channel’s standards.
“Mrs. Stabby” – the team pictured above – won the build competition with a great time of 36:19 (thirty six minutes and nineteen seconds). The rest of the teams finished soon after to round out an aggressive build session and an early start to the battles. The group displayed zero interest in keeping score and having some winners and non-winners, nonetheless enthusiasm was at an all-time high. People cheered and yelled and gave their best with out any need of keeping score – what? Truly, a delightful display of pure enjoyment and intrinsic love of the activity and a testament to the inherent fun-factor of pure robot combat.
This group reminded us of one of the surprising and counter-intuitive things about robot battles: the overriding camaraderie between teams despite being in competition with those teams. Whenever someone flips a robot the cheers are universal – not specific to the team doing the flipping. The joy and excitement of a well executed robot maneuver is cause for spontaneous celebration all in itself – perhaps best demonstrated by our own staff yelling out at each take down despite having seen hundreds of battles; it’s exciting!
This group from Google was also kind enough to integrate testing of some new prototypes into the melee. The Flipper, Spinner, and Slasher were tested with the Slasher appearing to be the crowd favorite. It was nice to hear people say this was the best team building event they had ever attended at Google – mission accomplished!
A huge thank you to Google for inviting us to join them at the spectacular Marker San Francisco hotel, and sharing their joy and enthusiasm with us for an evening.
