Indeed Austin Team Building
An Indeed Austin Team Building event at Indeed’s office in The Domain development was a huge success:
Thank you both very much! Everyone had a blast with the event. People were still talking about it last night over dinner. We appreciate your efforts!
The Domain is a mixed-use development that’s become a hub for tech companies, shopping, dining, and entertainment. It’s located in northwest Austin, and is sometimes called “Austin’s second downtown”. In addition to Indeed, Amazon, Facebook, and Vrbo also have offices in the Domain.
The view from Indeed’s 11th floor patio, home of our temporary robot battle arena, was spectacular, and the entire outside patio rivaled any battle area we have had anywhere! The up close view included Q2 Stadium home of Austin FC, the city’s Major League Soccer (MLS) team, which is located almost across the street, and, far off, we could see the entire skyline of Austin downtown.
Ten teams of about 4-5 people each competed to build the robot faster than each other and for the World Record. The winning team, pictured above, finished in a super fast time of 39:05 (thirty nine minutes and five seconds), almost 6-minutes below the average build time of 45 minutes! All ten teams completed the robots shortly after, and before we knew it, we were moving from the 3rd floor ballroom to the 11th floor outdoor patio.
The battles were sublime with all ten robots battling all five of the “points-based-rounds” and the “Last Bot Standing” finale. In addition to the spectacular view and ambiance, the robot wheels were grippy on the concrete and led to great battles. “Grippy” allows for more flips, faster action, and more consistent performance. We witnessed many modified attack arms along with a couple standard models from the ten competitors.
A huge thank you to Indeed, and to our client who brought us out again two years later because we are “the best offsite activity ever!”
