Las Vegas Leadership Team Building Event with CUNA
A Las Vegas Leadership Team Building event combined leadership training with a an incredible team building event to provide ROI to attendees. CUNA – Credit Union National Organization – wanted to offer a pre-conference workshop that would attract attention and get people to join. They also wanted to make sure attendees were getting ROI on their time and money investments. We collaborated to develop a Leadership Team Building event highlighted by our incredibly popular – and intriguing – Robot Build and Battle event!
The session was 3.5 hours and included a Leadership training based on The Leadership Challenge by Kouzes and Posner. We had an overview of the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership and then focused on Model the Way – the first and most important of the Five Practices. Values are an incredibly powerful force to unlock employee retention and productivity. Understanding your own values, and the values of your coworkers and of the organization makes a huge difference in how and who we hire, the number of employees that are satisfied and maximizing their own productivity and with employee retention.
We did a series of interactive activities that helped folks to clarify their values, and then develop shared values with first their own table and then with the entire room. i find this activity to be incredibly powerful and popular as folks discuss their values in depth with other people and learn a great deal about themselves and others.
This was all before the highlight of the event where teams built and battled robots! Four teams competed to build the robot faster than each other and correctly!
The team above only had 4 people and they still beat two teams with 6 people! They were truly amazing in proficiency and teamwork, and, considering none of them knew each other previous and none of them had any prior experience building a robot, I think a truly exceptional robot building performance. What I enjoyed even more was the great teamwork and friendly communications between all four teams as people had joy in working together to create something. I saw many happy faces which really inspires me.
The battles were outstanding and highlighted by a last second victory by Tim in the Last Bot standing competition, edging out Kyle. The count-down was literally at 3, 2, WIN! Tim was something of a battle hero as he truned the tables on a bot in much better health, was not expected to win, and in the last second came up huge!
Thank you so much for CUNA for inviting us to join them in Las Vegas for a Leadership Team Building!
