McKesson School Makeover Team Building Onsite at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country
McKesson Corp. is the 11th largest revenue generating company in the United States, and they have a strong tradition of giving back to the local communities they do business. They integrated our School Makeover team building program into an onsite experience benefiting two local San Antonio Schools. The schools were both chosen with great care to reward great performance in challenging situations.
One of the schools, The Young Women’s Leadership Academy (YWLA), recently had 100% of its graduating students attend college. The students are 100% female and the majority Hispanic and from challenging neighborhoods. For many they are the first person to attend college in the history of the family! The YWLA is a rare exception among public schools that defies the statistics to create truly exceptional results.
In just over an hour, onsite at the JW Marriott outside of San Antonio, we built custom book shelves, made hand crafted Mosaic pavers, and painted ceiling tiles using stencils created by the students! These are just a few examples of projects possible with a School Makeover team building event.
It was a truly transformational experience as students from a winning science team joined us from one of the schools, and participated along with the McKesson employees. Over 800 people in total created hundreds of art pieces that all came together to completely remake a school cafeteria, build an outdoor courtyard used for library classes, and provide book shelves for 5,000 new children’s books awarded by a winning grant.
