Pinterest Team Building Event in SF Teams Build and Battle Robots
A Pinterest team building event in San Francisco lived up to the fun and project-based image one might have of Pinterest!
Team Awesome lived up to their name winning both the build competition with a scorching time of 39:26 (thirty nine minutes and twenty six seconds), AND the battle melee competition. Nice when you call your shot and then live up to it with a stellar performance; Way to go Team Awesome!
“Quick follow up to our event yesterday…the team loved it!! We’ve had so much positive feedback so thank you for creating such a creative and engaging activity. The TeamWorx staff were great, so helpful, and really on top of it. The emcee does an amazing job facilitating and bringing energy and excitement to the event. Thank you!”
Pinterest knows all about moving fast! They are excellent at growing members and engaging buyers – according to the numbers. It has the fastest growing member base expanding at a clip of 57% and the second fastest growing user base at 111% over the last 6 months. Over 1 million people are active on Pinterest each month. Shocking to me and others in the industry, 88% of users purchased a product they “pinned”, and half of users bought 5 or more things!
This is a company trending upward, and who has a unique formula for really intense engagement and monetization of people’s interest in a “thing.” Made up of mostly students, moms, teachers, designers and bloggers, what may seem like a “niche” – is really more than half the planet. They have hundreds of millions of people actively, willingly, and excitingly engaged in meaningful interests. What other spaces are opportunities for this type of passion specific engagement?
Pinterest moved fast building robots near their HQ and Corporate Offices in a quirky, bendy part of San Francisco. Pinterest is pinned at the bend where the 101 gives way to the 80 West heading, at this point, straight towards the Bay Bridge. Next to Mission Bay, and South of SOMA, anyone who has traveled from anywhere south of San Francisco, including the airport, moving North on 101, will recognize the neighborhood, though few of us have ever actually been there.
Entering the building the enthusiasm and vibrancy of the Pinterest people is refreshing! The venue was everything you would imagine the “inside of Pinterest” would look like – the modern day Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – but for adults who “project.”
A fascinating and inspiring day with Pinterest. A huge thank you for inviting us to your campus and learning more about your company!
