Regeneron Repeats Robot Teambuilding
A Regeneron Repeats Robot Teambuilding event in Albany New York featured about 30 engineer/scientists competing to build a battle robot faster then the other teams, and then battling in robot combat!
The only other time we were in Albany New York, more then 5 years ago, was the last time we built and battled robots with Regeneron, and our client said her group loved it so much they had to bring us back! Stories like these make us very excited to hear!
A couple of fun history snippets about Regeneron: In 2010 they began sponsorship of the “BioBus”, a mobile laboratory, to drive hands-on science education in underserved school districts, and, in 2012, “The Science Top Employer” survey names Regeneron the #1 employer in the global biopharmaceutical industry and Scrip Intelligence names them Biotech Company of the Year!
It was snowing in my hotel the night before the event, and the day of the event it was freezing cold with snow pack everywhere. Luckily for us, this was an indoor event inside the manufacturing building, within an inner office that featured 1/2 its space temporarily empty of cubicles.
Five teams set-up on tables and 5 to 6 people joined each team. The winning team, pictured above, finished close to 5 minutes faster (10%) then the the average build time, with a time of 40:23 (forty minutes and twenty three seconds). Way to go!
The battles were spirited as usual and the build quality commensurate with folks who make precious vaccines and cures for human aliments. We had multiple rounds of combat before lunch time, and then a few more due to build quality enhancement. We finished with a last-bot-standing which lasted longer than usual due to the quality of the robot builds, and the consequent longevity of the bots.
A huge thank you to Regeneron for inviting us not only once, but twice, to beautiful Albany NY to work with their talented folks!
