Thermo Fisher Scientific Robot Event for Senior Global Leadership

Like many global companies, Thermo Fisher Scientific periodically hosts meetings with attendees from all parts of the world. They usually meet for long hours and try to maximize their time together. The TeamWorx Robot Event is a great way to inject some fun into the schedule and gain powerful ROI. Thermo Fisher Scientific liked the idea that the event was very easy for international attendees whose first language was not English, and at the same time challenging for the team. The 2nd half of the program is pure fun and excitement. Teams competed in a series of Robot competitions each with a winning team.

Our meeting planner contact wrote: “Ann (stakeholder) and I thought it went very well.  It took about an hour to build the robots, and then they had a great time with their challenges!!” It was another example of the highest levels of leadership in the biggest companies in the world having fun and getting to know each other better. The TeamWorx Robot event is a welcome and productive break from demanding meeting schedules.

The Robot event was delivered in a ballroom at the Babson Center for Executive Education and fit nicely into their overall schedule. Th Robot event can be modified anywhere from 1 to 4 hours, and in some cases has been used over 2 or 3 days. It offers two formats, the Speed and Skill competition where teams compete for the World Record build time and in a series of robot competitions, and in a Battlebot style “Head-to-Head” format. The battle format teams try to disable each other head-to-head in a tournament. Each team has several battles and moves up or done in the rankings depending on each outcome.

The Thermo Fisher Scientific teams competed hard for the World Record. One team narrowly missed by just over 1 minute!
