Robot Racing at Genentech
A Robot Racing at Genentech team building event for about 60 people was crazy fun!
Genentech only had 1-hour for the Robot Racing event so we modified the build process to help give them enough time to race. We built the basic model for each team so all they had to do was use the 50+ additional parts to modify the racer and make it their own.
Each team tried a different approach and 6 unique Robot Racers were created. The races were hysterical as each super charged robot racer vied for position by smashing into each other. The loudest yells wer ewhen one team knocked another team out of the track. Each time a racer is knocked outside the track they have to start back at the start finish line – so teams really enjoyed this outcome for the other teams!
Genentech is a biotechnology company that focuses on the discovery, development, manufacturing, and commercialization of innovative therapies for serious and life-threatening medical conditions. The company was founded in 1976 and has since become a pioneer in the field of biotechnology.
Genentech is particularly known for its expertise in the development of biotherapeutics, which are drugs derived from living organisms or their components. The company has made significant advancements in the areas of oncology (cancer), immunology, neuroscience, and ophthalmology.
One of Genentech’s key contributions to medical science was the development of the first biotechnology-derived drug, recombinant human insulin, which revolutionized the treatment of diabetes. Since then, Genentech has introduced numerous groundbreaking therapies, including targeted cancer treatments like Herceptin® (trastuzumab), Avastin® (bevacizumab), and Rituxan® (rituximab).
In addition to developing new therapies, Genentech conducts extensive research to better understand the underlying causes of diseases and identify potential drug targets. The company also collaborates with academic institutions, other biotechnology companies, and pharmaceutical partners to accelerate scientific discoveries and bring new treatments to patients.
Genentech operates as a subsidiary of Roche, a multinational healthcare company. While Genentech focuses primarily on research and development, Roche provides commercialization, manufacturing, and global distribution support for Genentech’s products.
