Genentech Robot Battles Style Robot Team Event Burlingame CA
Genentech had 4 teams compete for the World Record and to beat each other at building the Robot Battles style robot team event Burlingame CA. The group was from the USMA Biometrics team from Genentech. The event was hosted in downtown Burlingame CA near their corporate office in South San Francisco. They describe their corproate office as: “What began as a rented building with just two staff members has grown into a major campus with multiple buildings that house an advanced research center, manufacturing operations and various business functions. The South San Francisco campus continues to serve as Genentech’s corporate headquarters and is also the headquarters for Roche’s pharmaceutical operations in the United States.”
It was a nice mix of all types of people and positions in the business and the robot team building worked great to bring them seamlessly together for one cause. The strengths of each person were harnessed to produce a quality result that held up under battle against the other robots!
Genentech is a really great company to work for that really walks the talk when it comes to putting people first. They offer generous amounts of paid time off, encourage family life through paid time off for both people in the family equation (as a Father I really really appreciate the acknowledgement of our part in the parenting process), onsite child care, support adoption, transgender employees, and have unlimited sick days.
More than just ping-pong and couches, Genentech really puts investment behind the oft used slogans “we invest in our employees,” “we support families,” “we care.”
The best part of the event was the crazy battles that led to a thrilling final battle. Each person took part in battling another person from another team. We were lucky the restaurant staff were watching the event and cheering along because we were making some very loud cheers and yelling! Thank you for such a fun event Genentech!
