San Jose Team Building Robots & PayPal
San Jose team building with PayPal was a blast as three teams competed to build robots faster than each other and robot battle for bragging rights. Team Genius, team Einstein, and team Weeds each put their smartest foot forward to “out-build” the other teams. The finish was as close as an electronic money transfer with team Einstein winning in a photo finish by just 10 seconds with a build time of 47 minutes and fifty seconds (47:50) and team Weeds finishing at forty eight minutes even (48:00). Team Genius’s time was not relativity, using only three of the four space time continuum parameters.
We could hear the rain pounding the outside of the windows as we heated the battle floor inside with lively and entertaining battles. We used 5 minute rounds of melee battle with team Genius taking an early lead with three flipped robots! Then our prototype for the Robot Battles 2 team building event entered the fray. It quickly earned the name “the bully” as it pushed around the smaller bots and crushed their balloons with its wicked “catapult” style annihilator arm.
A unique twist with the new prototype is that it takes two drivers operating the same bot instead of just one. If we are to believe modern research on our brains that we really can’t multi-task, one would expect the battles excitement to increase exponentially by separating the driving from the attacking. On the new prototype, one person drives and the other has control of two attack arms – including the aforementioned catapult annihilator!
Unfortunately the side effect of more exciting battles is more cheering and yelling, and therefore more noise. On this occasion we made a few decibels too much noise from too much fun, and the operation was shut down by actual working people. Alas, our team from PayPal was thwarted by fun itself, a precaution to address next time so as to let the battles continue to infinity and beyond.
A huge thank you to PayPal for inviting us to your campus, for some stellar battles, and for testing our new prototype and giving it its first nickname!
