Teamwork Training County Employees with Madera County
Teamwork Training county employees is a valuable investment for the county, and for the people they serve. Running an entire county requires cross collaboration between many essential services. They must communicate and coordinate with each other while also satisfying their ongoing day-to-day needs of their constituents. The better they can do this the better services they can provide, the more money, time, and resources they can save, the more talent they can attract to stay, and the more innovation they can use to make things better.
We focused on improving relationships through values and personality styles, and through a better understanding of how to communicate with each other. We also looked at barriers to communication and how to overcome them, and investigated what it meant to collaborate – to look outside our sphere of influence for answers and inspiration. Based on the morning session, we applied these tools to countywide cross-department challenges Madera was currently having. The top officials were able to share ideas, build on each other’s ideas, and create solutions that were better than any individual person entered the room with. This is the ultimate outcome from a teamwork training session – when a group of talented individuals can create solutions that are greater than the sum of the individuals own abilities. They assist each other in getting it right, not being right.
Another excellent example of training dollars well invested. Madera county invested in getting actual answers to pressing concerns that were costing the county money. The solutions we created led to actual improvements in key issues facing the county. The top county officials learned skills that were immediately applicable to knowing each other better and understanding how to communicate better, and this led to a much better conversation. Coupled with a game plan for creative conversations – a term we call Dynamic Discourse – a group can accomplish amazing things and make good use of their time together.
