kCura is a fast growing software company that specializes in evidence discovery for investigators and litigators. Trials are won and lost based on the right evidence presented accurately at the right time, and kCura has established itself as a key partner for winning teams. They a Robot Team Building Holiday Party as a way to blend work and play. Their employees include software engineers, designers, operations, sales people, leadership, and other key positions. The Robot Team Building Holiday Party was a fun way to blend technical people and “people” people into seamless teams all competing to win – at least once – in a series of robot challenges.
Each team competed to break the world record build time, however due to the holiday party atmosphere and environment competition wasn’t the first thing on people’s minds. A more casual pace to the program put the emphasis squarely on having fun and sharing goodwill with diverse sections of the company. Cross-communication between departments flourished as people from different departments worked on the same team to build and use a robot; something novel to everyone! Luckily most of the building was completed before multiple cups of special eggnog were consumed.
The competitions were exciting and spirited. As the eggnog flowed the room got louder and the competitions more vigorous without losing the charm of the holidays. Key leaders in the company were able to interact with and create lasting bonds with a wide variety of employees not always accessible to senior leadership. The most prevalent thing we noticed was the exceptional degree of people really connecting through a fun and novel activity. The kCura Robot Team Building Holiday Party is a great example of how to spice up a holiday party with something new while also achieving the results you want from building on relationships and creating new ones!
The overall champions walked away with the coveted “Master Wrench” as an enduring H for their success!
