Pharma Team Building with Robots at Regeneron yielded one team with an amazing build time of 44 minutes 12 seconds – less than 1 minute off the current world record time of 43:18 and about 8 minutes faster than the previous world record help by Facebook of 51:07. Most of the 10 teams did great finishing within an hour, with the exception of one team who wanted to post the longest build time – a different sort of record. They succeeded with a time of infinite. Their build quality was exquisite however in the end they used one of our pre-built factory models for the competition.

Regeneron is perhaps the fastest growing pharma company in the world and their pipeline is even more impressive. They are fast moving and aggressive just like the Battlebot style robots they built. Forgoing the usual team versus team tournament format, this Pharma Team Building event went straight to an all out 10 bot battle all at the same time. Teams counted victories and changed drivers after each robot kill or defeat. We morphed into other combat formats including teams of 2 robots working together against other teams, and best driver competition.

The action was non-stop with robots changing tactics and being opportunistic in a quest to pop as many balloons as possible and/or disabling other robots. Perhpas the most compelling part of the Pharma Team Building event was the adaptations teams made as the all out battle progressed. They analyzed weak spots in the robots and used extra parts and items in the room to defend their bots, and to wreak havoc in new and unexpected ways.

Innovation under pressure makes for great team discussions and impromptu discoveries. Teammates are at their best with each other when they have a clear goal and an incentive to reach outside of their comfort zone. Robots and battle are natural means to this end, as teams are having fun and getting to leverage their creativity for immediate benefit!
