DreamWorks Team Building Robot Event
The Team Building Robot Event at Brand Library with DreamWorks included five teams competing to beat each other and compete for a world record robot build time. They all finished under one hour, and 4 of the five teams finished within 9 minutes of each other. The amazing low build time was 36:02 just 4 minutes off the world record of 32:07 set by Zymergen. 44, 45, 47, and 53 minutes rounded out the field. Every team had a victory during the team competitions as the overall competition was extremely close.
Of note we had the fastest balloon pop to date with an almost immediate match lighting and balloon pop. I am not sure the human eye will be able to decipher a faster time. This was our second time with DreamWorks and as always are impressed by their attention to detail and how effortlessly they demonstrate excellent teamwork skills including communication, challenging assumptions, and strategy. Every team built a fully functional robot that lasted the rigor of competition until the end.
We were immensely intrigued to learn how animated movies are made. The DreamWorks crew were extremely generous in sharing how the process works and the role they play in bringing it all together. Most people may not realize that the animated movie is “shot” much ion the same way an actual movie is shot. This includes actual scene sets, audio mics, camera angles, character development and make-up, lighting, and dozens of other factors that also play into an actual movie set.
DreamWorks employs many proprietary software products they developed themselves for the complex art of making a movie. The overall goal is have artists being able to perform their art without worrying about how to make it happen. This behind the scenes seamless creation process is what makes DreamWorks be able to create movies that touch the human spirit and are animated.
We look forward to many more events with the talented teams at DreamWorks!
