Stryker Finance Robot Team Building New York and New Jersey
Mahwah New Jersey was the site of an inspirational day with local STEM students attending a Robot Team Building New York and New Jersey event with Stryker Finance. The students joined Stryker finance employees to build robots together and compete to build it faster. One team pictured above almost set a World Record and finished 2nd overall with a spectacular time of 27:32. The World Record is still held by Dropbox at 23:24, however, the mean time is closer to 40 minutes! A great teamwork performance by a team that doesn’t work with robots and are not engineers. With great leadership and teamwork you too can compete for a World Record!
The students brought a unique advantage to each team as they were drawn from the schools robot club. They were used to building robots, and performing under pressure in robot competitions. The students had to coach some of the employees to perform at their best, as they were not as used to using a “game-pad” as the robot experts. The team competitions require everyone on the team to drive and/or learn a skill using the robot in every competition. You literally are only as strong as your weakest link.
Stryker competed in 5 different competitions and a finale, where they popped a balloon to end with a bang! Stryker hosted 14 students, 2 teachers, and made a significant donation to the robot club. Robot Team Building New York and New Jersey can make a huge impact on students, and encourage STEM related passions and pursuits!
The champion team builders of this event employed a team captain that coordinated the simultaneous building of three of the components, and prepared the final “binding” component in advance. They began immediately saving valuable seconds, and their proactive approach eliminated delays between team members as they sought to combine the individual components.
