EA Team Building Redwood City Robot Wars
EA Team Building Redwood City featured an epic showdown between the Evicerators and the Destroyers in robot building and robot combat! Ultimately the Evicerators pulled out a close victory in both competitions. More importantly both teams had an outstanding time and built on their existing relationships. The participants were from the global strategy team, so time together is precious and valuable to build on relationships that function effectively with thousands of miles between them at times.
Luckily building robots and battling robots is so fun the relationship building takes care of itself. This is how we feel playing games made by EA (especially FIFA) and to return the favor is a great feeling. One day we look forward to a Robot Battles EA game to bring it all full circle!
Back to reality, the Evicerators logged an impressive build time of 38:50 (thirty eight minutes and fifty seconds) while the Destroyers finished closely after at just under 40 minutes. There was an exciting finish to the team-versus-team competition as the Evicerators won on the final battle with a last second take down!
After the team battles we went to the all-bot melee and continued our prototype testing with the Spinner. The Spinner introduced a spinning wheel of destruction (horizontal spinner) and was an instant crowd favorite, adding another step in it’s trajectory towards full production mode. The Flipper was shelved for further upgrades as we seek ways to add more torque with out resorting to hydraulic pressure like the famous flipper battle robot – Bronco – from BattleBots. Based on the current BattleBots champion Bite Force, we are inspired to release a vertical spinner prototype in early 2019.
One side note, the lobby at EA is fabulous. If you love EA games there are life size reproductions of game characters and features. Similar to how our robot team building brings a video game experience to real life, these lobby features bring digital to terrestrial in a way we haven’t yet seen in a lobby!
Thank you EA, we greatly appreciate you bringing us out to your campus and working with your global team.
