Google Team Building Battle Bots for Fun and Frolic
A Google Team Building event should be challenging but also fun. Most groups are filled with people who have already worked several hours or attended hours of meeting and networking sessions before they arrive. Team Building Battle Bots style events like our Robot Battles team building are both challenging and fun.
This group included people from many different parts of the world. Our visual based team instructions come in handy for groups where many languages are spoken.
We quickly assembled into four teams and fielded questions from the teams as they created team names and anointed Team Captains for the event. Questions and concerns about the battles were allayed when compared to “tag” or “flag football” in the sense that we are trying to pop balloons on the robots, and tackle them if possible.
The teams were named team FeatherHat™, team The New England Rachels, Team Slackah, and team Robot Awesome Robot Emily.
Team Robot Awesome Robot Emily won the build competition with an impressive time of 35:28 (thirty five minutes and twenty eight seconds) followed closely by Team Slackah at 38:38. Team FeatherHat™ were last in the build competition but also only had three people, and they made a few unfortunate errors on the frame building portion which compounded their short handedness.
The battles were very exciting and exhilarating with a multitude of flipped robots. The final melee to 10 points total had Team Slackah at 9 points, The New England Rachels at 9, and Robot Awesome Robot Emily at 9, before The New England Rachels won just 2 seconds ahead of Robot Awesome Robot Emily surpassing the 10 mark.
It should be noted that team Rogue and team FeatherHat™ had scores of 8 and 9 points in other melee’s and both produced impressive robot flips throughout the combat. In what has been named the 2nd Melee – FeatherHat™ had 9 points on 3 consecutive flips before being ousted by a last second Robot Awesome Robot Emily victory.
The final totals had two victories for both The New England Rachels and Robot Awesome Robot Emily – an overall tie as they marched out the doors to dinner feeling closer and happier for having engaged in competition and combat with each other.
