An Apple Team Building in Mountain View
An Apple Team Building in downtown Mountain View was the perfect offsite experience. Six teams built robots and then battled each other in a melee style combat.
Teams Severe Genius, Dominators, Benoit Optional, Mic Drop, Super Duper Awesome, and Flash all built quality Robot Battles 2 advanced bots that lasted over an hour of battling hard in multiple melee rounds.
Living up to their name, team Flash finished in a scorching time of 51:00 minutes to win the build competition, followed very closely by team Benoit Optional with a time of 53:15 (fifty three minutes and fifteen seconds). These two times rank 4th and 5th all time, trailing only Marvell on June 19th with 49:31, Sales Force on May 24th with 46:40, and the current World Record time of 44:16 set on August 12 by team Profile from LinkedIn.
With all of the teams finishing at or under 1 hour we had plenty of time for robot battling. The quality builds also added to the longevity of the battles. After a preliminary series of battles between the top three build finishers, we had all 6 bots, plus one pre-built bot, in the arena. From here we had four all-bot melees and two last survivor rounds, and then 7 minutes for a free-for-all anything goes battling. The only thing that truly stopped our robot battling was the schedule, and our time at the venue had expired!
Severe Geniuses picked up the best melee round with 13 points from three robot flips and four popped balloons, followed by the Dominators with a round of 11 points (3 flips and 2 balloon pops). The winner of the battle competition however with two melee victories was team Super Duper Awesome with victories of 8 points and 5 points; timely victories!
