Apple Cupertino Team Building
An Apple Cupertino Team Building was a huge success building robots and battling robots. Apple has many talented groups and this one was no exception. They help improve the pixels we see on our beautiful Apple phones and so make the world a more beautiful place. Indeed they showed off their building skills completing 7 robots in impressive times.
Teams Do, Thanos, G-Force, Monkey, Seven is Heaven, Night Rider, and UnName all competed to build the robot faster than each other and possibly for a World Record build time. Team “Do” – a marvelous simplification of the spirit “just do it” reduced to just “DO!” – completed their prophecy of finishing first by actually finishing first with an impressive build time of just 31:15 (thirty one minutes and fifteen seconds). They were followed very quickly by the other teams which led to a quick start to full 7-team combat melee battles.
The battles offered many winners and an outrageous number of robot flips. The floor at the venue was a hard laminate which helped the robot wheels grip. “With grip, comes flip” is a saying we have coined after watching hundreds of robot battles. The grip allows a fulcrum effect and helps produce an over the top rather than the wheels slipping and giving the robot a reprieve.
Team Seven is Heaven dominated both battle formats – the melee highest score competition and the “lone survivor.” One of their drivers entered a robot slaying zone and was literally roaming around flipping robots at will. I couldn’t remember another driver in such a zone before – as I watched him rip through the melee round and then reproduce the performance in the final lone survivor competition. Sometimes we find hidden inner strengths through team building.
The best part was that everyone had a stellar time and had ample opportunities to battle and the numerous flips led to a highly charged crowd atmosphere – just like we love it!
