Herndon VA Robot Team Event
A Herndon VA Robot Team Event included teams representing the decades Seventies, Eighties, and Nineties as they squared off at Raventek headquarters in Herndon, VA, on a chilly Wednesday afternoon for a Robot Battle Royal. The Eighties squad dubbed themselves the Max Terminators got off to a solid start building their battle robots. That Seventies Robot team (aka Ron Jeremy) was not far behind and the Nineties Team Green Day took to the secure conference room to assemble their BattleBot. In a close finish the Max Terminators narrowly beat out each of the other two teams with a completed robot built in just 31 minutes and 23 seconds. All teams finished in under 33 minutes setting up a competitive battle among the squads of each decade.
The Nineties Team Green Day got off to a fast battle start, despite their last place build time, winning the first battle of the night. In back and forth rounds of battle melees That Seventies Robot Team and the Nineties Team Green Day exchanged wins in each battle round shutting out the Eighties Max Terminators of any battle round wins. In desperation to get a win on the board, the Max Terminators even adapted their battle arm adding a pocket knife in an attempt to pop more balloons easily. Alas, their modification bore no fruit and they again lost the round to the superior Nineties Team Green Day. That Seventies Robot team won a respectable 3 battle rounds but could not catch the Nineties Team Green Day who secured the BattleBot Championship with 5 battle round wins. In a final battle with the winner determined by first team to flip another robot Team Green Day again asserted their dominance flipping That Seventies Robot in aggressive fashion.
