Art Themed SF Team Building with CyberCube
An Art Themed SF Team Building with CyberCube at the Italian Club overlooking Washington Square in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco was a huge success. Six teams of about 3-4 people each painted a custom canvas using a paint-by-numbers technique. The paints are organized and labeled to make things easy, along with brushes, water, and protective gear.
Most of the event included people mingling, talking, and enjoying the painting process as they learned more about each other in an informal yet inspiring environment. I heard many conversations starting with, “when I was child …”, “my favorite thing to do now is …,” “in college I really enjoyed …” and other great examples of a deeper understanding of our fellow humans.
The painting serves as a wonderful backdrop to conversations, and at times becomes an opportunity for problem solving. How the teams approached the process of completing the painting, how to fill in the ambiguous gaps between numbers, and how to do quality control were just three of the active discussions I over heard from several teams.
Time flies when you are engaged, talking, and focused on painting. Before they knew it the canvases were completed and it was time to assemble them together into one large mural. This caught most of the participants off guard as they stared in amazement as all of their creative works fit together into one beautiful, large mural!
Equally impressive and amazing was how nice the mural looks. The engineer mindset does not often overlap into artistic ventures, so when the end result looks like an actual painting the painters are often surprised!
A huge thank you to CyberCube for inviting us to spend time with your talented and artistic folks. It was a truly excellent evening.
