The Corporate Virtual Escape Room World Record Begins
The Corporate Virtual Escape Room is based on the premise that we are looking for the world’s best business teams to solve the world’s greatest problems. The Virtual Escape Room requires teams of about 5 people to leverage their individual strengths, and their collaborative problem solving prowess.
The goal is to solve 5 teamwork challenges as quickly as possible. Each activity benefits greatly from collaboration. especially in the form of confirming each others answers, and disconfirming each others logic if possible.
The event uses Zoom, MS Teams, WebEx Teams, Google Meet, or whatever you use for video conferencing and simple accessories found on both PC computers and Apple computers (see above).
The Virtual Escape Room survived it’s first two challenges from Apple and Coinbase. Apple had 2 of 6 teams escape the room, while Coinbase went 2 for 2 and set a new World Record.
Apple set the first ever corporate World Record at 41:42 (forty one minutes and forty two seconds). Vincent’s team demonstrated all of the great qualities of winning teams. They vigorously presented suggestions and then others tried to disconfirm the thinking, and in the end the result was usually the right answer. Chris’ team also made it out of the Escape Room – right as the timer was expiring. Knowing Chris from previous events, it was a pleasure watching him and his team focus into action.
Coinbase had quite a heated competition with both teams steam rolling towards the World Record. Both teams finished under 40 minutes at 39:25 and the new World Record time of 35:50! (thirty five minutes and fifty seconds).
Coinbase has unique security needs and so we used Google Meet. The winning team actually made mini-meeting rooms of 2 to 3 people to work on 1 of the 5 team challenges. They expertly used the video conferencing technology to augment a more focused collaborative approach. This approach, their natural talent, and their ability to collaborate as one team of 6 people down the stretch to clean-up the last remaining parts of the last two challenges, ultimately was enough to set them apart and post an impressive World Record time.
We have dozens of Virtual Escape Room events booked through July and August, so it will be interesting to see how long this record holds up?
A huge thank you to Apple and Coinbase for getting us off to a great start!
