World Record Virtual Escape Room Time
A new World Record Virtual Escape Room Time was set just 5 days after Cisco shocked the World posting a time of 33:17!
A team from Ireland warmed up their logical brains at 7:00 AM PST with a Speed Teams event, and then were prepared to perform at their best in the Escape Room event!
A team of software engineers from Qualtrics residing in Dublin Ireland set the new World Record time for The Corporate Escape Room, finishing at 33:14 (thirty-three minutes and 14 seconds)!
When asked what their secret to outperforming hundreds of other teams from around the world they commented “we warmed up our logical brains and communication with each other with the Speed Teams event, so we were ready for Escape Room … well and the luck of the Irish of course!”
I witnessed the team on and off throughout the event. One thing I noticed about their performance was an aptitude for attacking the challenges strategically. For example, in challenge 4 they reduced the information needed to complete the challenge by a significant factor through the use of strategy; i.e. how they attacked the challenge yielded results probably not possible based on just performing exceptional on the event. This macro thinking reduced their time on more than one challenge.
It was also obvious they had already done a virtual team building together. They skipped some of the preliminary steps required for teams to operate efficiently together because they had already built this level of trust, familiarity, and a loose working relationship from the previous event.
Those of you reading this blog in advance of your upcoming event – (great job) – but also take note of the time savings possible by the use of strategy, a mental warm-up team event, and reducing the time in the phase a team takes to gel and begin producing results.
A huge congratulations to this unique team from Ireland, who I had the joy of watching and observing excellent teamwork! I also learned about Irish Guinness Pudding – which, similar to fruit cake, is ubiquitous at Holiday events but may rarely actually be consumed.
Congratulations Qualtrics on being top of the World!
