coinbase High-Rise Robot Battles
The king of crypto, coinbase, reconvened for a high-rise robot battles team building event. On the 20th floor of a beautiful high-rise building, blocks from the SF Stock Exchange, in the heart of the financial action, and after dark, 8 teams of 5 to 6 people each built and battled robots for about 2 hours. They were all winners, and two teams emerged as even more winners by building their robot faster in one case, and by winning the most robot battles in the 2nd case.
Team 5 “Dogecoin Dogs” narrowly beat Team 3 “PolkaDot Dancers” for the build competition coming in at a fierce and formidable time of 40:32 (forty minutes and thirty two seconds). 5 of the teams finished in under the average build time of 45 minutes.
We quickly convened to the battle area where melee battles began with three battle robots, and then slowly increased to 8 total robots battling at the same time. Battles being what they are, mainly super destructive, our crescendo of 8 robots had rollercoaster fluctuations in terms of how many functional bots were able at any one round. Alas, we had 5 rounds of actual sanctioned, all-bot combat, from which Team 3 emerged as a clear champion among champions!
Team 3 “PolkaDot Dancers” were early and frequent adopters of the robot flipping techniques required for decisive victories. Whereas popping balloons yields 1 point per balloon, each robot flip yields 3 points; a better ratio than the 3-point happy NBA!
I was most impressed by how easy coinbase has made it to purchase and manage crypto currencies. What at 3:00 PM was a foggy idea of nebulous crypto, at 6:00 PM was a well defined stock market of easily accessible trades and purchases. Using their app I am inspired to make the jump into an exciting new investment arena, and manage it all from my phone.
A huge thank you to coinbase for an invitation to their downtown headquarters, a lively and enthusiastic group of pioneering partners, and an overall awesome experience.
