Netflix LA Robot Battles Teambuilding
A Netflix LA Robot Battles Teambuilding event at the spectacular Terranea Resort on the ocean in Palos Verdes, west of Long Beach and Anaheim, and southwest of downtown Los Angeles, was a huge hit. This particular team was super talented and creative, and were responsible, among other things, for the spectacular trailer to the upcoming 2022 Netflix season. I remember first seeing this at the Super Bowl, and thinking “Wow – that was like making a movie with every star in the upcoming season.” The reason being that it doesn’t just show great clips of amazing scenes with famous actors, it has them interacting directly with us, the audience, right out of the actual trailer scene from the series or movie!
Our robot battles team building event is not quite that complicated, thankfully, but challenging nonetheless. The team pictured here won the the robot build competition, building their robot successfully and faster than five other teams, with an impressive time of 36:25 (thirty six minutes and twenty five seconds). This places them on the vaunted “Under 37 Minutes” list of all-time best robot build times – congratulations!
The battles were a blast with all six robots smashing within the carpeted arena in the center of the meeting room. The teams battled for points fruitlessly as they all seemed fairly evenly matched. Flipping became the routine of bot 28 who paired with the right driver became a scoring machine. The highlight was the “last bot standing” competition where we reward the last robot surviving in each round. Elena won two of the three rounds and was crowned overall battle champion!
I asked her how she won 2 of the rounds and she said “I was patient, and precise;” words to heed for future robot battlers!
The Terranea Resort was exquisite, elegant, and full of fresh ocean air. The service is 5 star, and the robot carpet venue worked fabulously.
