Hybrid Team Building with Meta
A Hybrid Team Building event with Meta was a huge success. Like many large tech companies, Meta is in the process of having folks back to the office while others are still remote. They organized a hybrid meeting to invite both on-site folks, and remote folks, meeting together in one “place.”
Meta chose the TeamWorx Robot Battles team building event to inspire and entice people to come and to join. Meta’s current policy does not allow for vendors to enter the Meta campus, so we led the event virtually as well!
The onsite people had robot kits delivered to campus, along with an example bot, and some extra parts and tools. In partnership with Meta’s onsite representative, we led the event virtually with our emcee on the big screen in a meeting room. Folks joining virtually had instructions to build specific parts of the robot which they partnered with onsite participants who did the actual building.
Team #2 (pictured above) finished 4 minutes faster than the average in-person build times at 41:04 for our first ever hybrid, robot building champion! Team #3 followed with a time of 45:14 which is awesome for a hybrid experience. The other teams finished shortly after and we began the battles.
The battles were managed well virtually for the most part. We had several rounds of 2 minute battles, and everyone got to battle at least once. I couldn’t quite get them to keep score, but they were having a great time!
In order to end with a crescendo, we had a “last bot standing” tournament which ended with Dan versus Kevin. Dan had won two rounds as the rules were lost in translation, so he technically qualified twice. I say this because Kevin won the finale and was the champion, and Dan was very awesome as well!
“Thanks for being an amazing host. The team LOVED it! “ … our client at Meta.
