Fontainebleau Team Building
A Fontainebleau Team Building event rocked Miami Beach as Textron built and battled robots in Miami Beach. Textron is an amazing company with iconic brands such as Cessna Aircraft, Beechcraft, Bell, E-Z-GO, Arctic Cat, and many more. They are a “$11.7 billion, multi-industry company employing 33,000 talented makers, thinkers, creators and doers worldwide. (that) make things that fly, hover, zoom and launch. Things that move people, protect soldiers and power industries. (They) serve customers in industries spanning aerospace and defense, specialized vehicles, turf care and fuel systems.”
The Fontainebleau is the moist iconic Miami Beach hotel, famous once upon a time with the Rat Pack, featured in several movies (including James Bond), and now boasts perhaps the most lively party scene in all of Miami! Bentleys, Rolls Royces, Lamborghinis, and other super cars are common place in the valet and on the streets around Fontainebleau.
Textron assembled over 250 of its most creative engineers and most inspiring folks from a variety of professions within all of it’s companies. You can imagine how honored each of these folks felt being selected from the best of not only their own iconic brand and company, but also from folks in all of the amazing brands under the Textron umbrella.
This cocktail of excellence required a team building worthy of the location and of its honored guests. This event was TeamWorx Robot Battles!
25 teams each built a robot inside the Fontainebleau Ballroom. Team 7 won the build competition with a time of 45:30 – placing them 5th all time! Team 5 followed closely behind with a time of 49:15 and Team 24 took third place with a time of 50:50. Each of the top 3 teams won a donation to a charity of their choice ranging from $20,000 to $10,000 – a big deal!
After building the robots we traversed out to the Ocean Lawn where three robot battles arenas were set up. Teams changed drivers after each battled so everyone had a chance to try it out, and they competed to earn a berth into the finals. The finale was a “last robot standing” competition which Team 17 survived and was anointed Battle Champion.
Robot Battles was a wonderful and amazing part of Textron’s spectacular meeting at the iconic Fontainebleau!
