GE Partners with Stanford Youth Solutions for a Bike Building Event Sacramento
The perfect partner for a Bike Building Event Sacramento is Stanford Youth Solutions as they serve Foster children throughout the Sacramento area. GE wanted to build bicycles and give them away to children from a local charity, and they wanted a quality team training to help the synergy of a new work team. Although all of the team members had been with GE for over 10 years, and some as many as 20 years, GE’s growing business in the bay area and central California has them working together for the first time.
TeamWorx provided GE a teamwork training program integrated with a bicycle building component that achieved both goals for GE. A Bike Building Event Sacramento is a great way to interact with the local community, and we connected GE with our favorite local charity Stanford Youth Solutions. Foster children are a huge priority for TeamWorx and we look to help children locally and nationally whenever we have the chance. Stanford Youth Solutions is an excellent local partner because they use a an extremely aggressive 360 degree approach that looks to keep children in their communities, and also looks to build on the existing positive infrastructure the children have.
Bicycles are often a key component to the overall strategy for a child. By providing them with their own transportation, they are able to move between relatives and caregivers, get to a job, training or support system, and improve their exercise and health. The bicycle gets plugged into their overall life plan!
GE built three bicycles that were matched with specific children whose life was in need of a bicycle. In addition to changing 3 young lives, the team learned and revisited key teamwork training techniques and skills. Among the powerful for them, and something new to even this experienced team, was the clarification of personal values and the creation of shared values for the team. We have found this to be an integral part of our teamwork and leadership training sessions for many groups, including experienced groups with 10 to 20 years on the job like this crew from GE!
