Meta AI Team Event
An Meta AI Team Event building and battling robots was a huge success at MPK 21. Robot Build and Battle 1 has been our most popular event at Meta since it’s first appearance August 10th 2016.
This group develops and customizes the tools AI developers need to implement AI in different platforms and products. They are skilled in the most in-demand technology of 2024!
The AI team was actually based at 1 Hacker Way, and made the leisurely walk across campus to join our event in MPK 21. We convened at the “Pony Express” outdoor covered plaza. Pony Express faces West towards the coastal mountains, and is an outdoor space covered by a large ceiling 20 to 30 feet above. It has 6 giant rectangle tables that can be used to support up to 8 Robot Build and Battle 1 teams, and ample additional space to add tables for larger groups.
Our winning team (pictured above) completed the robot with only 4 people in a very respectable time of 47:39. The other teams finished close after and we were able to fit in multiple rounds of combat on the smooth concrete floors. Team 10 had the best outing, including a dramatic straight on flip over to win the “Last Bot Standing” finale! (pictured above).
It was a great pleasure to discuss AI with this team as they have a really interesting perspective. They see first-hand how many different product groups and support groups are implementing AI to their existing user experiences. They also experience the boundaries of AI, and the incredible utility, as they meet their clients demands for the tools required to achieve their goals.
A huge thank you to Ryan and his team for inviting us out to Meta for a really fun event in the perfect venue. The battles were thrilling and exciting, and made my drive home full of spectacular robot smashing memories!
