Netflix DoorDash and SandCastles
Netflix DoorDash and SandCastles highlighted the last two weeks of team building events. Netflix and DoorDash both competed in the Robot Build and Battle 1 team building event with spectacular results.
Netflix hosted the event in Los Gatos, the place my daughter wants to live due solely to its name, and a beautiful location at that! The campus features natural light and open spaces. The group was vivacious, energetic, and great building and battling robots as the picture above demonstrates.
Likewise, DoorDash jumped into the fray for the first time with an excellent group of outgoing and joyous folks from all over the country. Our venue was a secluded backroom behind Merkado Restaurant on Townsend Street in the Mission Bay area of San Francisco. Fancy tables and a concrete floor worked well to support robot building and battling as a fun and engaging activity before dinner. The battles were loud and inspiring, and everyone had a great time rooting for their robot and trying their hand at battling!
As often happens, we had many reluctant heroes, who at first glance were hesitant to battle a robot, but afterwards left as a champion!
Not to be out done by spectacular robot team building events, the Parker Institute braved the beaches of San Francisco to construct a giant scale sand castle (pictured above)!
The weather was perfect with a slight overcasting of clouds, and yet not a chill to be felt anywhere. The spectacular scale of the Golden Gate bridge nearby makes the whole scene seem surreal (say that three times fast)!
The final result was a sand castle that will last as long it takes a child/teenager or a curious dog to find it and smash it, but otherwise nearly impervious to weather and dare I say time itself …
A huge thank you to Netflix, DoorDash, and the Parker Institute for inviting us to join you and your wonderful people for a day of team building.
