Redwood City Robot Team Building – Robot Battles 2 with Facebook!
Redwood City Robot Team Building is our most common Robot Battles event, hosting dozens of battles each month at our local venue partner. Peaceful surroundings, floor to ceiling windows scaped by park and soccer fields, ample free parking, and 10 minutes from many of the largest businesses in the world, we host hundreds of events in Redwood City.
It was a historic date as this was the first group from Facebook to do our Robot Battles 2 event!
Team Not That Kind of MIT posted the first best time from Facebook with a total robot build time of 1 hour and 16 minutes. Team Juggernaut and team Screwed followed closely behind at around 1:20 (1 hour and twenty minutes). The current World Record build time for the Robot Battles 2 event is just under 45 minutes. It is bigger and faster than the Robot Battles original robots, but also a more involved build overall.
The advantage of building a bigger robot that also moves faster, is that you also get more exciting battles!
Team Juggernaut finally lived up to their name by crushing the melee robot battles with 4 wins to only 1 for both of the other teams. The Rogue robot came out with a victory as well to round the evenness of 2nd place finishers.
It is always a blast working with new teams from Facebook and learning more about what they do. They are perfect participants for building robots in a competitive format.
The only downside was we had to move the Tai Chi class next door because the yelling and cheering was so loud and vociferous. Alas, all was well when I let the instructor and some students play with the robots after class and they understood “why the yelling and cheering.” So thankful Tai Chi is in the world to demonstrate calm and thoughtful expression of the human experience.
A huge thank you as well to this group for being the first group to do our Robot Battles 2 event at Facebook!
