Redwood City Robot Team Event with Facebook
A Redwood City Robot Team Event with Facebook brought six teams into robot battle combat and tested their teamwork and leadership. Teams Furious 5, Fantastic 4, Cool Team Name, 2B II 12B, Last Place, and 2nd to Last Place, competed to build the robot faster than each other. Team Last Place put in a super fast time of 34:35 (thirty four minutes and thirty five seconds) to beat out the other five teams by over 2 minutes and place themselves in the top 10% all time.
The battles were great with 6 robots all battling melee style in the combat arena with 30 people cheering and yelling and having fun. Everyone had a chance to drive and battle. The results were equally distributed throughout the teams mostly, with every team claiming at least one victory except team 2nd to Last Place. Three of the teams claimed a second victory, which set-up our thrilling final battle for a “winner takes all” scenario.
Teams Fantastic Four, Furious 5, and team Last Place battled in a three way final to announce one winning team. Each team chose their best driver and had at it.
Collisions, flips, balloon pops, evasive maneuvers, and other skilled tactics were on display throughout the battles. In the end, team Last Place put their stamp on the day by completing the double – build champion and battle champion. Tough to accomplish, as each task seems to ask for a different skill set overall, and contribution from multiple sources.
Team Last Place persevered and captured a final battle victory in the last seconds of combat. Not an easy road, but thrilling and rewarding.
A huge thank you for the team from Facebook that works on “People You May Know” – we appreciate you visiting our venue in Redwood City and roboting with us!
