Robot Battles 2 LinkedIn 260 People 26 Teams Set Record
Robot Battles 2 is perfect for large groups looking for the most amazing team event they have ever done. LinkedIn took it to the next level by setting a new World Record Build time for Robot Battles 2 with a scorching time of 44:16 (forty-four minutes and 16 seconds) beating the previous record holder Sales Force (46:40) by 2 1/2 minutes! Team Profile beat out 25 other teams from R&D at LinkedIn including 200 OK, Autobots, Anomaly Bot, Amped UP, Leopard, 5108 717 (lil bot), Review Bot, Abuse BOT, The Anti-Abusers, The Schrodingers, Team TalentHub, Natty Light Returns (last years champion), iota, and others.
This was the second year LinkedIn has had us come onsite to campus and takeover the basketball court. Last year team Natty light set a World Record build time with Robot Battles original and beat out 19 other teams to crowned double champion. This year the event grew with reputation and 26 teams were allowed in with a wait list still pending. R&D did not disappoint with almost every team finishing in under one hour, and dozens of battles in three separate arenas throughout the court.
Teams battled in groups of 8-9 teams to be one of the top 3 teams in each region. The top three teams met in the middle for an epic finale that included numerous lead changes. The final winner won by only 1 point as time expired and they received and raised the Giant Nut trophy in exhilarating victory! Granted, keeping score was an inexact science as the excitement and competitive nature of the melee made exact score keeping difficult. In the end, there were three teams deserving of a championship and only one could raise the Giant Nut. Congratulations to all of the teams that made the final, and especially those that narrowly missed out on a championship.
A huge thank you to LinkedIn for inviting us back on campus. We hope to see other departments compete to challenge our current champions – R&D!
