A Robot Racing Team Event in Portland Oregon was a huge hit at the Nines Luxury Hotel in downtown. 70 people who are all remote workers gather every quarter in person. This time they chose Robot Racing to inspire interaction and comradery!
9 teams each built a custom Robot Racer in time. Each racer was uniquely different. Several teams benefited from the open market of parts trading to enhance their status. 4 Teams earned giant wheels through strategic parts trading, while one team won 2nd pole position. One team managed to get two sets of giant wheels by also winning the “race car” trading competition.
The races were pure fun with extensive laughing tempering the competition with joy. We managed four total races and 6 laps with a final between the top 4 teams. Most teams finished each race overcoming “reset” penalties for going outside the track, or being pushed outside the track. Referees lined the course to make sure rules were enforced fairly.
