Global Virtual Team Building
Global Virtual Team Building was the theme again this week with Uber, Gilead, and Credit Suisse all providing good times for employees from around the world.
Uber invited their team from India to compete in The Corporate Virtual Escape Room. In sight of a public holiday honoring Mahatma Gandhi on Friday, we scheduled a Wednesday morning at 6:00 AM PST session for the folks in India. They were incredibly engaged especially considering it was 6:30 PM in the evening! They had 6 teams with three teams escaping under 45 minutes, at 40:50, 42:20, and one team setting the Uber World Record at 40:37 (forty minutes and thirty seven seconds)!
The North American Uber team did the same challenge on Thursday a little over 24 hours later and produced an impressive best time of 40:52, and boasted several teams escaping the room! The participation was great with multiple teams vying for preeminence.
Gilead scheduled a two-hour Friday celebration which included Speed Teams followed up by The Corporate Virtual Escape Room. These events complement each other nicely as Speed Teams is the perfect way to warm-up people to social interaction and get them ready to be ideal teammates.
Gilead was especially good at Speed Teams which requires teams to verbalize, talk out loud, and share ideas – the better they do this the more widji picture puzzles they solve, they better they feel, and the more they win! Gilead had 1 individual who was close to a widji savant, and several teams who managed to beat her. They got puzzles quickly that hundreds of other teams barely got at all!
Everyone had a great time and performed amazing in The Corporate Virtual Escape Room. You could see the joy factor was maximized as many teams seemed to appreciate the process regardless of the pressure of time. I enjoyed watching and wished we had more time to enjoy the beauty of effortless teamwork.
Credit Suisse ended the week with a late-night Friday Who Stole Anti Matter? team event. With two hours for the event, teams had ample time to process through their arguments, theories, and recreated narratives. All four teams chose the correct suspect which almost never happens, and each team had at least one compelling specific piece of evidence. In the end, the judges rewarded team 4 with the best piece of leverage evidence, but also commended the other teams for solid work.
Expanding the notion of team to all who participated, Credit Suisse unraveled almost the entire case with several bits of compelling evidence. In addition, every team reached the threshold to send the guilty suspect to the Grand Jury! Plant saved!
