Sandcastle Building Team Event
Teams build giant castles and sculptures the size of the pros, with the tools, the techniques and a coach who makes sure it stands up.
A fun day at the beach building relationships and huge sculptures!
Most beach outings are lunch and a photo. This one hands your group shovels, forms and carving tools, and two hours later there is a gigantic castle or sculpture made with enduring quality.
Teams of 6 to 12 pack, shape and carve their own sculpture while a TeamWorx coach moves between them teaching the professional techniques; how to compact sand so it holds an edge, how to carve from the top down, how to add windows, stairs and brickwork that survive the afternoon.
Then everyone walks the beach together, scores each sculpture, and a winner is crowned before the tide takes it all back.

Every sculpture is built by hand, by one team, coached start to finish.
How it works
Four steps from an empty stretch of beach to a row of finished sculptures.
01
We set up the beach
We handle the beach permit process for you and arrive early with every tool, form, bucket and water supply your group needs. Nothing for your team to carry.
02
Your coach teaches the tricks
A short hands-on demo covers compacting, forming and carving. Each team also gets waterproof directions that stay readable in wet hands all day.
03
Teams build
Teams of 6 to 12 split into builders, sculptors, and carvers and build their design, with a coach circulating to help and inspire!
04
Judging and the walk
We provide a scoring matrix so anyone can judge fairly. The group walks the beach, scores every sculpture, and we crown the winning team.
Nobody builds a castle this big alone
A sculpture the size of the pros needs hundreds of pounds of sand moved, packed and shaped in a fixed window. One person cannot do it. The teams that finish well are the ones that split the work early, keep water and sand moving to the carvers, and agree on a design before anyone starts digging.
That is why this reads as a teamwork event and not just a beach activity: everyone is needed, every job is visible, and the result is standing in front of you at the end. It also travels well across a mixed group. Almost nobody has done it before, so there are no experts and no one sits out.

Questions we get asked
Does anyone need experience?
No. Almost nobody has built a real sand sculpture before, which is part of why it works. The coach teaches the techniques on the beach and each team keeps a set of waterproof directions.
Do we need a permit for the beach?
Most public beaches require one for a group event. We know the process at the beaches we work and we guide you through it, so it is one form and a signature rather than a research project.
How big do the sculptures actually get?
Bigger than people expect. With a team of 6 to 12 and a couple of hours, castles regularly come out taller than waist height and several feet across, with carved brickwork, stairs and windows.
What if the weather turns?
We carry a back-up: our indoor Teamwork Energizer. You get an event either way, and we make the call with you rather than leaving you guessing the morning of.
What happens to the sculptures?
Photos happen, then the tide does its job. The design is beach friendly and leaves no trace; everything we bring in, we take out.
How large a group can you handle?
We have run 200 people and 20 sculptures on a single beach. Larger groups mean more coaches and a longer stretch of sand, both of which we plan for in advance.
