Drone Games @ Google
Drone Games Takes Off at Google
Hot on the heels of our debut at Meta, TeamWorx brought Drone Games to Google for the first time. The event was held at Google’s 100 W. Caribbean location, and the group had an amazing time from the first propeller spin to the final landing.
Same Format, New Flight Crew
The format matched our Meta launch. Teams built their own drones from kits, then rotated through a series of competitions designed to test speed, precision, and teamwork. The room filled with focused builders at first, and that focus soon turned into loud cheering as the drones lifted off and teams went after every point on the scoreboard.
Creativity Took Flight
One of the best parts of the day was seeing how far teams pushed their designs. Several groups built custom drones: one had bright pipe-cleaner trim, another had tall stilt-style landing legs, and another had a spiral “tentacle” that dangled below as it hovered over the scoring stack. Every drone had to fly, and every one had a personality.
Our Champions
Congratulations to the winning team pictured here, who took two of the three competitions. That’s a strong showing in a field this competitive, and they earned their bragging rights.
Safe, Fun, and Meeting-Room Friendly
A question we hear a lot is whether drones belong indoors. They do. Our drones are lightweight and harmless to the meeting room, and they’re safe for participants. That means Drone Games can run in the same conference spaces where your team already works, with no special venue required.
The Whole Crew
The big group photo shows the participants in the first-ever Google Drone Games. Thank you to everyone who built, flew, crashed, rebuilt, and cheered.
A Familiar Flight Path
Google has been a TeamWorx partner for over a decade, hosting dozens of Robot Build & Battle events in that time. We hope Drone Games follows the same path, and that this first event is the start of many more.
