Mountain View Corporate Team Building
A Mountain View Corporate Team Building with Google at MP2 featured four teams from user accounts searching for victory on a Friday afternoon. The Terminators, Moshin’s Roosters, Wall-E, and Mewtwo’s Anger, all competed to build the robot faster than each other, for the Google record of 26:40 (twenty six minutes and forty seconds) set on November 5th, 2019 by Team Robo Chef, and for the World Record of 23:32.
The teams were first divided by “birth quarter” which led to an interesting experimental sample – how would people perform based on birth month. I tabulated some results and sent them to the Astrological Academy of Sciences for further review.
On first glance it would seem beneficial to be born in the third quarter as team WALL-E – made up of people born in July to September – won the build competition by over 2 minutes with a truly impressive time of 37:58 (thirty seven minutes and fifty eight seconds). I witnessed excellent teamwork and leadership as they silently and somewhat secretly sped to the top of the build time competition.
The battles were super fun with many great surprises. Our best individual battler didn’t even want to try at first, and then after some coaxing from teammates, she gave it a shot. She then proceeded to get the events first flipped robot for three points, and followed up with popping two more balloons for a melee victory! The overall melee and last survivor results were well distributed with every team having at least one victory, and the overall battle winner – The Terminators – finishing with three victories.
The best part of robot battles is watching everyone have a great time doing something they have never done before, and may never do again, and inspiring their teammates like our best battler in this event!
A huge thank you to Google user accounts for having us out to your campus, and for a great event!
