Menlo Park Team Building with Facebook Battle Bots Style
Menlo Park Team Building at Facebook is always a fun adventure, mostly because of the really cool people we get to work with while having fun. This group was certainly no exception and even engaged in some clever and nefarious attempted verbal sabotage.
In a world of corporate warfare, each team would leak false information in a nonchalant but purposeful style – the effectiveness was high initially but soon faded as credibility in such a jest tends to wane after the first use. Nonetheless an outstanding attempted technique and definitely representative of the banter and friendliness displayed throughout.
The build competition did not disappoint either with a photo finish. Two teams – PWNage, and 2Fast2Furious – battled to a near tie.
Team PWNage won by literally less than a few seconds with an impressive time of 38:36!
With only two teams we upped the adrenaline for the battles by adding one built-bot per team. With two-bot on two-bot combat – death match style (last one standing wins) – teamwork and strategy can add to the chance of winning. We used 3-minute rounds to keep the action intense and the drivers constantly changing – alternating between driving and resting at 3 minute intervals – with occasional breaks for repairs. This was a new format and one we had been waiting to test. Initial results are extremely positive, especially for smaller groups of 2-4 bots.
We finished with an all-bot melee battling until time ran out – about the time the robots were ready for a major tune-up. The team helped us scour the dozens of bolts, nuts, and other robot parts scattered about the carpet after over an hour and half of smashing into each other and trying to flip and rip.
A huge thank you to this team from Business Strategy – who applied their forethought and teamwork to our robot event and created a ton of fun! – for bringing us out to Facebook campus for your Menlo Park team building!Robot Team Building
