First Drone Games Teambuilding
Liftoff! Our First-Ever Drone Games at Meta
There’s nothing quite like a first. After more than two decades of designing team-building experiences, TeamWorx just launched something brand new: Drone Games. Our very first event took flight at Meta with 50 participants from London, Dublin, Seattle, and cities across the U.S.
How It Worked
We split the group into nine teams and set up three competition alleys, with three teams rotating through at a time. Teams built their drones, then tested their piloting skills across a series of challenges. Over two hours, the room went from quiet focus over build instructions to full-on cheering as drones lifted off, wobbled, recovered, and (mostly) landed where they were supposed to.
A Dominant Champion
Congratulations to Team 5, who swept all three competitions. Their standout moment came in the “All Try” landing challenge, where they scored an impressive 275 points. Every team member took the controls, and every landing counted. That’s exactly the point.
A Bonus Round We Didn’t Plan
Our client had a surprise for us: a crazy balloon challenge. They brought balloons and plastic cutlery all the way from London just for this, so of course we made it happen. After the two-hour program wrapped, teams armed their drones and went balloon-hunting. It was chaos in the best possible way, and it may become a regular part of Drone Games going forward.
Where It All Began
Pictured in the upper right are Rishi and Zach, our founding Drone Games clients. They were the first people ever to book this program, and both are at Meta. We can’t thank them enough for taking a chance on something new.
That trust means a lot, because Meta holds a special place in TeamWorx history. More than ten years ago, we launched Robot Build & Battle there, and it has since returned over 100 times. We hope Drone Games follows the same flight path.
The Verdict
Incredibly fun. Amazing from start to finish. Watching colleagues from three countries crowd around a drone, then cheer together when it finally stuck the landing, reminded us why we do this.
A huge thank you to Meta and this inaugural group!
